QUESTION :- An electric kettle consumes 1 KW of electric power when operated at 220 V. A fuse wire of what rating must be used for it?

ANSWER :-

We know that,

A fuse wire should be able flow that amount of current which the appliance requires.

Firstly, we have to find the maximum current that the appliance requires.

Given,

 \sf Power = 1KW = 1000W \: and \: Voltage = 220V

 \sf  \fbox{P=V×I}

 \sf So,\fbox{I = VP}

 \sf I =  \frac{1000}{220}

 \sf  I =  \frac{100}{22}

 \sf \fbox{I = 4.545A}

The fuse wire should able to flow atleast 4.545A.

So, the rating of fuse wire should be 5A.
