Given:

Resistance of kettle = 1500 ohm

Voltage = 230V

To find:

Electrical energy consumed

Solution:

Here the electrical energy is converted to heat energy, thus complying with Joule's Law which states that heat generated in conductor that carries current , electric kettle in this case , is directly proportional to the  square of voltage , time taken for heating and inversely proportional to the resistance of the conductor.

Taking one heating = 1 hour= 3600 seconds

∴ Energy consumed = H= \frac{V^2\times t}{R}  \Rightarrow  H= \frac{230\times230\times  3600}{1500}

\Rightarrow H = 126960 Joules ( Answer )
