an electric lamp of 100 ohms and a water filter of resistance 500 ohms are connected in parallel to to 220 V source what is the resistance of an electric iron connected to the same source that takes as much as current as all three appliances and what is the current through it

Net resistance of the two devices in parallel is

1/R= 1/100 +1/500 = 6/500

R= 500/6= 83.33 ohm

so resistance of iron should be 83.33 ohm

current drawn = 220/ 83.33 = 2.64A
