Answer:

Given that electric current (I) = 5A,

Potential difference (V) =220V

Time (t) =2h=2×60×60s=7200s

Now Power (P) is given by the expression P=VI

  =220×5watts

  =1100w

Now Energy consumed by the motor H= Pt

   =1100×7200J

   =7.92 × 106 J

It is given that an electric motor takes 5 amperes current form a 220 volt supply line.

Explanation:

  • (i) The power of the motor can be calculated using the formula P=V I=>5 \times 220=1.1 \mathrm{kw}.
  • We know that the power is the product of voltage and electric current.
  • (ii) The electric energy consumed by it in 2 hours can be derived from the formula E=P T where P stands for power and T stands for time =>1.1 \times 2=2.2 \mathrm{kwhr}. We know that the electric energy is the product of power and time.
