An electric pole 12 metre in height is held by a wire which is fixed to the ground at a point 16 metre away from its base find the length of the wire.

height of pole =12 m

distance between the point and base of pole =16 m

now we know pole will form 90°angle with the base so

by using pythagoras theorem

(12)^2 +(16)^2=(Length of wire )^2

144+256=(L)^2

√400=L

20 = L

so length of wire = 20 cm
