An electric pole is 9m high. A steel wire tied to the top of the pole is affixed at apoint on the ground at a distance of 12m from the foot of the pole. Find the length of the wire.

Then,

        AC^2 = AB^2 + BC^2                             ( Using pythagoras

                                                                            theorem)

Given, Pole, AB = 9m and distance of point from foot of pole, BC=12m

       AC^2 = 9^2 + 12^2

       AC^2 = 81 + 144

       AC     =  √225

        AC    = 15m
