If an electric stove of resistance 12 ohms draw 12 A from the service mains for 2 hours then the rate at which the heats is developed in the electric stove is  1728 J/s.

Explanation:

The resistance of electric stove, R = 12 Ω

Current, I = 12 A

Time, T = 2 hrs

Here we are asked to find the rate at which the heat is developed which means we have to calculate the heat produced per unit time and the formula for the rate of heat production is given as,

Rate at which heat is developed = Energy/Time = I²RT/T = I²R = Power …… [since Power = VI = IR*I= I²R]

So, from above we can see that we basically have to find the power of the electric stove i.e.,

Power = I² R = 12² * 12 = 1728 Watt or Joules/second

Thus, the heat is produced in the electric stove at a rate of 1728 J/s.

Hope this is helpful!!!!!
