An electric toaster has a power rating of 200 W. it operates for 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the evening .how much does it cost to operate the toaster for 10 days at rupees 5 per kilowatt hour?

To find : the cost to operate the toaster for 10 days.

Solution : power rating of electric toaster , P = 200 W

A/c to question, it operates 1 hr in the morning and 1 hr in the evening.

so, total energy dissipated by toaster in a day = 200W × 2h = 400 Wh

Now total energy dissipated by toaster in 10 days = 10 × 400 = 4 kWh

As rate of electricity is 5 Rs/kWh

So, the cost to operate the toaster = 5 × 4 = 20 Rs.

It is given that :-

  • Operated for = 2hrs a day
  • Till days = 10day
  • Costs = 5rs/kwh
  • Total cost =?

Now, it is given that it, is operated for 2hrs a day.

So the energy it uses in one day = 200 × 2 = 400wh

The energy it uses in 10 days will be = 400 × 100

= 4000wh = 4kwh.

Money it takes for 1kwh = 5rs

Money it costs for running 10 days= 5 × 4 = 20rs.
