An electrical circuit has three devices each plugged into a standard household powerpoint. Device A has a resistance of 1.0 kΩ (kiloohm), device B has a resistance of 3.0 kΩ and device C has a resistance of 6.0 kΩ.

If all three devices are turned on for 15 minutes, what will the total energy consumption of the three devices?

18.15 Wh or  0.01815 kWh (unit)   is the total energy consumption of the three devices

Explanation:

Energy  consumed  = (V²/R)t

House Hold Voltage = 220 V

Time = 15 min  = 15/60  hr

= (220²/R) * (15/60)

= 12100/R  kWh

=12.1/R    kWh

Each points are in parallel hence Energy consumed will be added

= 12.1/1   + 1.21/3  + 1.21/6    Wh

= 12.1(1  + 1/3 + 1/6)  Wh

= 12.1 (3/2)  Wh

= 18.15 Wh

Another Way  net Resistance  =  1/(1/1  + 1/3  + 1/6) = 6/(6 + 2 + 1)  = 6/9  = 2/3 kΩ  = 2000/3 Ω

Energy  consumed  = (V²/R)t  =  (220²/(2000/3))* (15/60)   = 18.15 Wh

= 0.01815 kWh
