An electrician buys a television set for rs.3500 and a refrigerator for rs.6000. After spending rs. 1000 on
repairing the television and rs.500 on painting the refrigerator, the television is sold
at a 22% profit and the refrigerator is sold at a 9% loss. Find his net profit or net loss in selling the television and the refrigerator.

cost of repairing the television= rs 1000

cost of painting the refrigerator= rs 500

total cost = 3500+6000+1000+500

=11000

hence cp = 11000

he sold the television at profit of 22 percent

hence sp of television= 6000x22/100

= 6000+1320

=7320

he sold the refrigerator at 9 percent loss

hence, sp= 6000x9/100

= 6000-540

=5460

total sp= 7320+5460

=12780

sp>cp

net profit = sp-cp

=12780-11000

= 1780
