An electrician is carrying some repairs in your home. He wants to replace a fuse by a piece of copper wire. Would you agree? Give reason for your response. ​

No,the electrician cannot be allowed to replace the fuse in the house by a piece of wire.this is because every wire cannot be used as a fuse filament.A fuse filament must have a low melting point such that it could melt and break it respond of large amount of current most of the wires have high melting point.

Due to strong metallic bonding the melting point of copper wire is high. But in fuse filament wires, a material having not much high melting point is used, as it has to be molt down when a high current flows through it in order to save the other household circuits.

Also the copper wire has low resistance but the fuse filament wires used have high resistance to produce more heat at same value of current.

Hence the electrician can't replace it with copper wire.
