An electrician puts a fuse of rating 5A, in the part of the domestic circuit in which an electrical geyser of rating 2kW, 220 Volt are operating in parallel combination. What is likely to happen and why? What change, (if any) should be made?

THE FUSE WILL MELT AND THR CIRCUIT WILL BREAK AS THE CURRENT FLOWING THROUGH THR CIRCUIT IS MORE THAN THE RATING OF FUSE.

I=P/V

=2×1000W/220V

=9.09

SINCE THE CURRENT FLOWING IS MORE THAN RATING OF FUSE SO IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WITH A 10A FUSE.

Answer:

P = VI

2 kW = 220 × I

2000 = 220 × I

I = 2000/220

I = 9.1 A (approx.)

Explanation:

The current here is more than the value of the fuse limit,so it breaks the fuse.

So,it should be replaced by a 10 A fuse.
