An electron accelerated by a potential difference of
300 V, is moving at a distance of 4 mm from a long,
straight wire. If a current of 5 A flows through the
wire, what will be the force acting on the electron?

Answer:

first calculate the velocity of the electron by using

1/2 m v^2 = eV ( e = charge of electron and V = 300 )

then calculate the field due the wire at a distance 4mm from the current carrying wire using

B = u0 I / 4 π d ... { d = 4 mm , I = 5}

then finally use Lorentz force F = q ( v × B ) to get the force , put q the charge of electron.. hope this helps..
