Given:

Magnetic field: Bo j

Velocity= 8 x 104 i m/s

To find:

Direction of magnetic force

Solution:

A moving charge in a magnetic field experiences a force such that velocity, the direction of the magnetic field and the force experienced by the electron are all mutually perpendicular to each other.

The direction of force is given by F= q(VXB)

Direction of VXB = i X j = k

But since the charge on an electron is negative, direction of force is -k

Hence, Direction of magnetic force experienced by the electron is (d) along negative z-axis
