An electron enters normally in an uniform electric field of intensity 3200V/m with speed of 4×10^7m/s.the electron covers a distance of 0.10 m .what is the deflection of the electron?

JinKazama1: 1.76 * 10^-3 m?
JinKazama1: Is this right?
Rupsa1111: yes
JinKazama1: Want solution?

Final Answer : 1.76mm

Understanding :

1) Distance = speed * time
Find time from here.
By Calculation, it came out
t = 0.25 * 10^(-8)s

2) acceleration of electron = e E / m
in direction of Electric Field.
Use Newtons equations to get

Substitute the value of time in
deflection = 1/2 * a * t.^2

deflection = 1.76 mm

For Calculation see pic.
