An electron in a Hydrogen atom is on quantum level n = 4.

we have to calculate the energy of that quantum orbit.

solution : here we have given principal quantum number, n = 4

so we have to find the energy of electron in 4th orbit.

according to Bohr's atomic theory,

energy of electron in nth orbit is given by, E = -13.6 × Z²/n² eV

here n = 4 and Z = 1 [ for hydrogen atom ]

so, E = -13.6 × 1²/4² = -13.6/16 eV = -0.85 eV

You can convert it into Joule.

1 eV = 1.6 × 10^-19 Joule

so, -0.85 eV = -0.85 × 1.6 × 10^-19 Joule

= 1.36 × 10^-19 Joule

Therefore, energy of electron of that quantum orbit is -0.85 eV or -1.36 × 10^-19 Joule
