An electron in the hydrogen atom is revolving around a proton with a speed of e²/h. The radius of the electron orbit is equal to ♄²/me². Obtain the formula for the electric current in the above case. Mass of the electron = m, charge on electron = e.

Let t be time taken by electron to complete a revolution.

t = circumference/speed

t = 2πr/v

t = 2π × (h²/me²) / (e²/h)

t = 2πh³/me⁴

Electric current is given by -

I = charge/time

I = e/t

I = e/(2πh³/me⁴)

I = me⁵/2πh³

Therefore, electric current produced in atom is me⁵/2πh³.
