Given   An electron is moving with a velocity vector v=9i+5jm/s in a magnetic field vector B=3j +4k Tesla

To Find :  the force on electron.

Solution:

F = q v xB

v = 9i+5j

B = 3j  + 4k

v xB

       i        j           k

      9        5         0

      0        3         4

i ( 5 * 4 - 3 * 0)  - j ( 9 * 4 - 0 * 0 )  + k ( 9 * 3 - 0 * 5 )

= 20i  - 36j  + 27k

F  = q( 20i  - 36j  + 27k)

q = e = 1.6 * 10⁻¹⁹

F  = 1.6 * 10⁻¹⁹ ( 20i  - 36j  + 27k)  N

20i  - 36j  + 27k = √(20)² + (-36)² + (27)²  = 49.24

F = 78.79  * 10⁻¹⁹  N

F = 7.879 * 10⁻¹⁸ N
