The valence of Oxygen is -2.

So when B shows the valence as 4 the formula formed is BO2. And when B shows the valence as 6 the formula formed is BO3.

Hence, when an element B shows valence numbers of 4 and 6, the formulae of its two oxides is BO2 and BO3
