Given info : An element have 40% and 25% percentage amounts of A and B in its isotopes A, B and C. their mass numbers are 29 , 30 , 31 respectively.

To find : The average atomic mass for element is..

solution : mass percent of A = 40 %

mass percent of B = 25 %

mass percent of C = 100% - (40 % + 25%) = 35%

mass number of A = 29

mass number of B = 30

mass number of C = 31

average atomic mass = (sum of the product of mass numbers and mass percent of all isotopes)/100

= (40 × 29 + 25 × 30 + 35 × 31)/100

= 29.95

Therefore the average atomic mass of the element is 29.95
