3 period means it has 3 orbitals.
2 group mean it has 2 electron in its last orbit but it is not applicable for all but from group 1-2 & 13-18 it is. as for boron electronic configration is 2,3 as last orbit has 3 electron so add 10 you will get group and to find period count otbital it has 2 orbital so period is 2.
