Atomic number 11 is of Sodium.
a.) Sodium is a metal. So, M is metal.
b.) Sodium makes sodium chloride, which is NaCl. So, according to question it will be MCl, replacing Na by M.

M had atomic number 11 then it's electronic configuration is:-(2,8,1)......a) 'M' is a meta as it's valency is +1.....
b) Atomic number is 11 then the name of element is sodium(Na) which has valency +1
Now, formula of its chloride is;
Na2O as valency of chloride is 2.... so if element is M then formula is M2O.....
