An element with an atomic number of ------------ will form a basic oxide. option 17 , 20,6 , 7

Answer :

Correct answer is option 20---element Calcium

Reason :

  • As we know that All metallic oxide are basic in nature.
  • Because element with atomic number 17 ,6 and 7 are non metals which form non metallic oxides which are acidic in nature.
  • For example : 2Ca + O2----------> 2CaO                                                        and calcium oxide is basic in nature .
  • Test : CaO +H2O--->Ca(OH)2
  • we can test it with red litmus dipped in calcium hydroxide which tells that it is basic in nature .
