Hello friend!!
In the compound XO, it is clear that the valency of X is 2. There are many compounds whose valency is 2.
So, X can be Magnesium (MgO), Lead (ii) (PbO), Copper (CuO), and so on.
In the compound Y2O3, it is clear that the valency of Y is 3. Hence, Y can be Aluminium (Al2O3).
Magnesium belongs to Group 2 of the periodic table, Lead belongs to group 14 and Copper belongs to group 11.
Aluminium belongs to group 13.
Thanks!!
