An element X forms a compound XO with oxygen deduced to it's valency , also write the chemical equation when this element forms a compound with chlorine

The element X belongs to 2nd group of periodic table. since the oxide is conducting the electricity then it must be ionic. The element may be Be or Mg.

1) It must contain 2 electrons in its outermost shell. so by giving 2 electrons to the oxygen it forms oxide. and formula will be XO. Example: BeO or MgO

2) this element when combine with chlorine form the chloride with formula XCl2. As  element has 2 electrons in its outer most shell it can combine with 2 chlorine to complete the octate of chlorine. Hence formula will be XCl2 example: BeCl2 or MgCl2
