formula of its chloride is XCl2 and it's carbonate is XCO3

ahmadammarlm10: please explain the answer too!!!
AyeshaKhan545: the element is X and it oxide formula is XO this means that the valency of O is 2 and so the valency of X must be 2 so it gets cancelled. similarly the valency of choride is 1 therefore the formula will be XCl2 and the valency of CO3 is 2 so the formula is XCO3
ahmadammarlm10: thanks
AyeshaKhan545: welcome
