35-18=17 atomic number

EC of 17- 2,8,7
Period 3 Group 17

Hope it helps

given: mass number is 35 and number of neutrons is 18

to find: group number and period of x

here, number of electrons = mass number-the number of neutrons
hence number of electrons = 35 - 18
that is 17
therefore its electronic configuration is 2,8,7 hence we can see that the required element is Chlorine (Cl) which means that it is present in group 17 and period 3

Hope It helped

Thegreatone: yes
astha42: and if mass will ne in decimal then
astha42: be
Thegreatone: practically the masses are never in decimals. but in some cases like the chlorine the mass is 35.5 it's because there are two isotopes and the average is taken
astha42: ok thanks
Thegreatone: you're welcome
astha42: ok GN
astha42: bye
Thegreatone: GN
Thegreatone: It just occurred to me that you may be confusing mass number with mass. That's a common mistake
