the bond formed between X and Y is ionic because one is metal and one is non metal where X is a metal which donate his 1 electrons to y. HD know that the access electronic configuration 2 8 1 therefore this is a metal or we can say that alkalis metal

and y has electronic configuration 2 8 7 there for this is a halogen and when these two reacts with one another then it forms of ionic bond.

I think I am right?
