So mass of the given element = 35
no. of given neutron = 18

mass no. of an element = no. of proton + no. of neutron
Therefore,
35 = no. of proton + 18
no. of proton = 35-18 = 17

no. of proton = atomic no. of that element.

and the element with atomic no. as 17 is chlorine.
Hence your answer is Chlorine.

Hence it's period is 3 and Group is VIIA(17).

Answer:

We know :

Atomic number = Mass number - No. of neutrons.

Atomic number = 35 - 18

= > 17

Electronic configuration :

2 , 8 , 7

Group no. = 17

Period no. = 3

Name of element is Chlorine (  Cl ) .
