An elephant of length 4m is at one corner of rectangular cage of size 16m *30m and faces towards diagonally opposite corner if elephant starts moving towards diagonally opposite corner it takes 15 seconds to reach this corner .find speed of elephant

Diagonal length = 34m, distance covered 34-4=30m. Speed is 30/15 m/s = 2m/s

we have to find the diagonal first

diagonal of rectangle =

 \sqrt{ {l }^{2} + b}^{2} }

=

 \sqrt{ { \binom}{ 30m }^{2}  +  { \binom{16m}^{2} }

=

 \sqrt{900m}^{2}  + 256m}^{2} }

=

 \sqrt{1156}

=34m

distance to be cover by the elephant

=34m-4m

=30m

speed=distance

time

=30m

15sec

=2m/sec
