An elevator descends into a mine shaft at the rate of 6 metre per minute. If the descent starts from 20 m above the ground level, how long will it take to reach - 340 m? ​

60 minutes i.e. 1hr

Step-by-step explanation:

Total distance that needs to be covered = 20 + 340 m

                                                                   = 360 m

Rate of descending elevator = 6m/min

∴ Total time taken = 360/6

                              = 60 minutes i.e. 1hr

∴ It will take one hour for the elevator to reach -340m
