An elevator descends into a mine shaft at the rate of 6 m/min. If the descend
starts from 20 meter above the ground level, how long will it take to reach - 340m?

Total distance covered by mine shaft= 20 -(-340)= 20+340= 360m

Time taken to cover a distance 6 m= 1 min

Time taken to cover a distance of 1 m = 1/6 min

Time taken to cover a distance of 360 m=( 1/6) × 360 = 60 min = 1 hr
