Given:

An elevator is accelerating upwards with an acceleration of 6 m/s2. Inside it, a person of mass 50 kg is standing on a weighing machine which is kept on an inclined plane having an angle of inclination 60°.

To find:

The reading of the weighing machine is:

Solution:

From given, we have,

An elevator is accelerating upwards with an acceleration of 6 m/s2.

a = 6m/s2

Inside it, a person of mass 50 kg is standing on a weighing machine which is kept on an inclined plane having an angle of inclination 60°.

m = 50 kg and θ = 60°

we use the formula, the reading of the  weighing machine is

N = ma cos θ + mg cos θ

N = 50 × 6 × cos 60° + 50 × 10 × cos 60°

N = 300 × 1/2 + 500 × 1/2

N = 150 + 250

N = 400

Therefore, the reading of the  weighing machine is 400 N
