An employee works in a company on a contract of 30 days on the condition that he will recieve rupee 200 for each day he works and he will be fined rupee 20 for each day he is absent .If he recieves rupees 3800 in all, for how many days fid he remain absent??

Let the number of days he worked to be x.

Therefore, the number of days when he was absent will be 30 - x.

He gets Rs. 200 for each working day and Rs. - 20 for being absent.

So, he gets money in the form of 200x + 20x - 600, where x is the number of days he worked.

According to question he earned Rs. 3800 in total:-

So, 200x + 20x - 600 = 3800

Add the like terms:-

220x - 600 = 3800

Transpose to right hand side:-

220x = 4400

x = $\frac{4400}{220]$

x = 20 days.

So, he was absent for 30 - x = 10 days.

10 days is your answer !
