An empty box is pulled by two men with horizontal forces, as shown below (the view is from the above):

Assuming that F1 is 345 N and F2 is 458 N, and there is no other horizontal force acting on the box, find the magnitude and direction of the resultant force.

Two horizontal forces, 1 and 2, are acting on a box, but only 1 is shown in the drawing. 2 can point either to the right or to the left. The box moves only along the x axis. There is no friction between the box and the surface. Suppose that 1= +2.2 N and the mass of the box is 3.3 kg. Find the magnitude and direction of 2 when the acceleration of the box is the following

(a) Find the magnitude and direction of 2 when the acceleration of the box is +5.1 m/s2. (Indicate the direction of the force by the sign of your answers.)

(b) Find the magnitude and direction of 2 when the acceleration of the box is -5.1 m/s2. (Indicate the direction of the force by the sign of your answers.)

(c) Find the magnitude and direction of2 when the acceleration of the box is 0 m /s2. (Indicate the direction of the force by the sign of your answers.)
