An empty RD bottle has a mass of 25.25 g. When filled with water, the bottle has a mass
of 55.75 g. and 45.50 g when filled with alcohol. Find the volume of bottle and the RD
of alcohol. Also find the density of alcohol.

Answer:

Hi there,

♤Given

●Mass of bottle is 25.25 g

Mass of bottle + mass of liquid = 55.75

So, mass of liquid = 55.75-25.25 =30.5

Also, mass of bottle + mass of water = 45.50

So, mass of water = 45.50-25.25 =20.25

we know density=mass/ volume

Let the density of the liquid be d.

And we know that density of water is 1g/cc

And volume of the bottle be V.

Since, both the liquid and water are filled in the same bottle,

volume of water = volume of liquid = V

So,

☛ Mass of liquid = Vd = =30.5

☛Mass of water = V(1) = 18g

V = 20.25g/1g/cc =20.25cc

Thus,

Vd = 30.5

20.25cc (d) =30.5

d=30.5/20.5

d=1.5 or 3/2

so,the density of alochol =1.5 and the volume of bottle =20.25
