  \huge \mathfrak{Answer:-}

The difference between the energy band of the valency band & conduction band are gap . It is denoted by ∆Eg.

\implies K.T = 0.026ev

Where k = Boltzman constant

T = Room temp. = 298k = 2T°c

The energy gap is very very less in case of the metal & it's insulator generally not behave like conductor up to very high temp.

\implies 1. Metal = ∆Eg << kT

\implies 2.Insulator = ∆Eg>>KT

\implies 3. Semi conductor = ∆Eg > KT

\implies for silicon => ∆Eq = 1.1ev

\implies for germanium => 0.68ev
