An engine operating between 127 degree celcius and 27 degree celcius takes 1000J heat from a high temperature reservoir .assuming that their is no frictional loss, calculate the work that can be done by this engine?

Answer: As you know that for a carnot engine

T2/T1 = Q2/Q1

Here, T2 = Temperature of sink in Kelvin

T1 = Temperature of source in Kelvin

Q1 = Heat taken from source

Q2 = Heat rejected to sink

Applying it , Q2 = [ Q1*T2 ]/T1 = [1000*300]/400 = 750J

So work done = Q1 - Q2 = 250J
