51/2 hours is for 85 liters

how many hours is for 250 liters

51/2 : 85 :: X : 250

product of means is equal to product of extremes .

so...

51/2 * 250 = X * 85

51*125=85x

$x = \frac{51 \times 125}{85}$

$x = 75$

it will work for 75 hours
