Given : Number of Candidates - 15000
Mean marks = 40
Standard deviation marks = 8
To find : Marks obtained corresponding to the standard marks 1.30 and 1.50.
Solution :
For 50 marks
score = ( Value - Mean )/ Standard Deviation
Z score = ( 50 - 40)/8
= 10/8
= 5/4
For 60 Marks
Z score = ( 60 - 40)/8
= 20/8
= 5/2
Thus, the standard marks of students scoring 50 marks = 1.25
the standard marks of student scoring 60 marks. = 2.5
For, marks 1.30 and 1.50.
1.3 = ( x - 40)/8
10.4 = x - 40
x = 50.4
and,
1.5 = ( y - 40)/8
12 = y - 40
y = 52
Answer : The marks corresponding to standard marks 1.30 are 50.4 and 1.50 is 52.
