Suppose ABC is a equilateral triangle with 4 cm each side.

Measure of AO will be :

If measure of BC = 4 cm

Measurement of OC will be 2 cm

Hence, ∆ AOC is a right angled triangle

By Pythagoras theorem,

(hypotenuse)² = (base)² + (height)²

(AC)² = (OC)² + (AO)²

(4)² = (2)² + (AO)²

(4)² - (2)² = (AO)²

20 = (AO)²

√20 = AO

Height of equilateral triangle will be √20
