An equilateral triangle has sides of length Is (3x-y) cm, (x+5) cm and (y+3)cm. Find the length of each side.

→ 3x-y = x+5 = y+3

From 1st and 2nd equations above

3x-y=x+5

y=2x-5 → (i)

From 2nd and 3rd equations above

x+5=y+3

x+5 = 2x-5+3       [From (i)]

∴x=7

Then,

y=2(7)-5

∴y=9

Then, each individual side is 12cm, 12cm and 12cm respectively.
