Let side of a square be 10 cm

Error of 2% excess makes 10.2 cm

Area of square without error (or) Original area = 10(10) = 100 sq.cm

Area of square with error = 10.2(10.2) = 104.04 sq.cm

Percentage increase in area

= (Change in area*100)/Original area

= (104.04 - 100)*100/100

= 404/100

= 4.04

Answer

If there is an error of 2% in excess in measuring a side of a square then there is increase of 4.04% in area

Hope it helps
