Rally taken out to mark beginning of Police Commemoration Week
Several police personnel had attained martyrdom while discharging their duties and their sacrifice should be remembered and revered, Collector S. Satyanarayana said on Sunday.
The Collector and SP Gopinath Jatti flagged off a police commemoration rally from Konda Reddy fort to Rajvihar centre in the city. Civil, Armed Reserve, APSP, fire, special party police and students carrying placards and banners participated in the rally. Stressing the need to pay homage to police martyrs, the Collector said youth should be encouraged to join the uniformed forces and serve the country.
The Police Commemoration Week was being observed from October 15 to 21 to pay tributes to police martyrs. October 21 was being observed as the Police Commemoration Day ever since 10 CRPF personnel lost their lives in Ladakh while preventing Chinese infiltration in 1959 in a war-torn situation, the SP said.
An Open House session would be held on October 16 and blood donation camps on October 17. Employees, police and students would be involved in the blood donation, the SP said. Painting, cartoon and essay writing competitions would be held.
A police expo would be organised in the police parade ground to enlighten the people on the style of functioning of the clues team, BD team, forensic and other wings, he said.
