The practice of taking private tuitions in the northeastern state of Manipur has recently been a new practice which is starting to influence more and more parents and students. While the education system of the state is at par with that of the other states, there has been a gradual interest and increase in the 'trend' of taking private tutors for the children.
The academic competition among the students have taken a huge surge in the state. More and more students feel the pressure to be at par with their classmates. Another reason for this trend in private lessons is that most of the schools are private owned and under the Manipur Board which is not the same with the CBSE of the whole country. So, when students in this state want to get admissions outside of the state like Delhi or for further studies, their marks are too low in comparison to the CBSE students which makes it hard for them to get good colleges.
Also, some of the more richer people take this private tuitions as a 'trend' that they need to follow as a show among their social circle. This trend may be for the good of the students but it also added to the stress of the students with the added pressure and need to constantly study if they want to be like others.
