An essay on youth of today flouts the rules set by society and country

Gone are the days when the youth of India was the pride of India. Swami Vivekananda had an immense belief in the power of the youth. He called them the Nation-builder, the future leaders of this big country. Gandhiji too believed in the strength of the youth. The youth then did not let them down. It was on their shoulders that India celebrated her freedom. They were obedient, dedicated, disciplined, active, responsible and patriotic.

Today’s youth stands in stark contrast. They are a lazy, selfish, ill-mannered bunch of youngsters. They do not respect their country, her tradition and the elderly. Gone are the days when the youth considered their parents and teachers to be mortal Gods.

They smoke, drink, use abusive language openly. Girls too do not refrain from behaving inappropriately and wearing clothes that oppose our culture. Like the Americans, the youth of today flout all the rules of man-woman relationship. Marriage is no longer a sacred bonding. The youth prefer to live together without entering into a wed-lock.

The Indian youth has built a Frankenstein out of their immorality. They have done away with all ethics and tradition. They now dwell in a barbaric, concrete jungle trying to echo the western world.
