Competitive inhibitor example is sulphate drugs that inhibit formation of folic acid in bacteria by competing with para amino benzoic acid. Folic acid is necessary for all types of cells for growth but it cannot enter into bacterial cells through diffusion or active transport. So it forms folic acid and sulphate drugs inhibit the folic acid donation by competing with PABA.

Another example is inhibition of alcohol dehydrogenase by ethanol in methanol poisoning.

Another example is inhibition of succinc dehydrogenase by malonate and oxaloacetate.
