Given  :  An estimated 40% of all the people were born after the year 2000.  two people are selected at random from around the world,

To Find :  chances that NEITHER of these people were born after the year 2000

Solution:

Mean p  = 0.4   ( 40 %)

q = 1 - p = 1 - 0.4 = 0.6

n = 2

x = 0

p(x) = ⁿCₓpˣqⁿ⁻ˣ

p(0) = ²C₀(0.4)⁰(0.6)²  = 0.36

chances that NEITHER of these people were born after the year 2000

= 0.36  or 36 %
