Given :  An examination paper consists of 5 questions in section A and 5 questions in section B.

A total of 8 questions must be answered.

To Find :   In how many ways can a student selected the questions if he is to answer at least 4 questions from section A

Solution:

There are 2 possible cases

4 Question from Section A   and 4 Question from Section B

or

5 Question from Section A   and 3 Question from Section B

4 Question from Section A  and  4 Question from Section B

⁵C₄*⁵C₄  = 5 * 5 = 25 ways

5 Question from Section A   and  3 Question from Section B

⁵C₅ * ⁵C₃  = 1 * 10  = 10 ways

Hence 25 + 10  = 35 ways

Student can select Questions in 35 ways
