Particle of matter attract each other.
For example-
If we take a piece of chalk and an iron nail. And beat them with hammer, we will find that it js very easy to break the piece of chalk into smaller pieces coz it requiees more force to break whereas the iron nail does not break at all even with a large force. This shows the force of attraction of chalk which is weak and iron nail which is strong.
